IMAGINE VIOLET
Anika Mustafiz is a Toronto-based Bangladeshi artist whose work celebrates womanhood and tells compelling stories through vibrant and evocative art. With roots deeply embedded in her rich cultural heritage, Anika’s creations serve as a bridge between her South Asian identity and the diverse, multicultural tapestry of the world.
Driven by an intrinsic need to create, Anika finds her voice and purpose through her art. Her pieces are not just expressions but necessities—each stroke and color chosen to honour the strength, resilience, pain and beauty of women. Her work often features themes of empowerment, unity, heartache, suffering and the celebration of diversity. While she aims to uplift, she does not shy away from the sorrows of life. In fact, many of her art pieces reflect a time of deep heartbreak and grief.
Anika's art is a reflection of her own journey, representing herself and her culture while embracing the diverse influences that surround her. Through her work, she aims to foster understanding and appreciation, inviting viewers to connect with her stories and celebrate the multitude of experiences that define womanhood. She developed the pseudo name Imagine Violet after her favourite colour, and it being a creative colour, symbolic of counterculture and artistic daring.
